Top 5 expected highlights at CES Asia 2016

The second annual Consumer Electronics Show Asia will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center Wednesday to Friday. Serving as the vane of the technology industry, CES Asia showcases the breadth and depth of innovation in the field of Asian consumer electronics.

More than 350 companies, including key global brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Intel, IBM, Huawei and China Mobile, are participating and will present their latest products and technologies to executives of the industry, international buyers, the media and Chinese consumers.

The event will feature representative innovative technologies of the consumer technology industry, with a focus on the following five fields: virtual reality (VR), smart home, drones, automatic driving and connected car and electrical appliances.

In 2016, the so-called the year of VR, the world’s technology giants, including Sony Corp, Google Inc, HTC Corp and Samsung Group, all engaged in developing VR technologies and launched VR products that drew attention from early adopters. At CES Asia, VR’s advanced, immersive experience will be brought to visitors.

The concept of a smart home is not new, but wireless smart home hardware development has been white-hot for the last two years. At CES Asia, companies, including JD.com Inc, Midea Group, Samsung Group and LG Electronics Inc, will present a great range of smart home products from smart home solutions to smart home ecosystems.

Following its R8 e-Tron piloted driving concept seen at CES Asia 2015, another automatic driving concept car by Audi will debut this year. Mercedes-Benz will bring its concept vehicle, the Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile, which made its global premiere at last year’s Frankfurt International Motor Show.

At CES Asia 2016, the spotlight on smart home appliances will fall on the High-Dynamic Range, 8K, curved screen and the Internet of Things (IoT) electrical appliances. Among household electrical appliance enterprises stepping into the IoT field, Samsung and Hisense Electric Co Ltd have already launched smart refrigerators that enable IoT functions and both of the two companies will showcase products at CES Asia 2016.
